Last words (thankfully) from the New England-Seattle laugher.

  • Joseph Niouky was shown his fifth caution of the season in the second half last night and will be suspended for a match. Niouky’s already missed one game after having been shown a red against FC Dallas earlier this season. The first-year midfielder will not dress at home against the Chicago Fire on June 27. With his five yellow cards, Niouky is tied with Toronto FC’s Martin Saric for the most in the league (though Niouky’s done it in one less contest). (more…)

With a seven game winless streak in the rear mirror after defeating the Red Bulls a week before and with a three week break from league play coming right before them, with captain Shalrie Joseph two weeks into his return from suspension¬†and with star keeper Matt Reis dressed on the sidelines and nearly ready for a return of his own, with a 2-0 record against Seattle Sounders FC in 2009 and with the second year franchise struggling mightily to score goals in 2010 — yes, with all of these factors considered — there was reason for the New England Revolution to feel quite optimistic entering Saturday night’s match in the Pacific Northwest.

Having been totally outplayed by Seattle in the first half, the Revs will return to the pitch facing a three goal deficit.

Mansally has two goals, both scored off the bench during the Revs’ 2-0 victory over DC United. (more…)

Some thoughts and notes as we look forward to tonight’s match between the New England Revolution and Seattle Sounders FC at Qwest Field:

  • The New England Revolution will happily put May in the rear-view mirror as their season continues forth into its third full month. The Revs wrapped up their hectic month — tied for the busiest in club history, featuring eight matches — without much to be pleased with having gone 1-5-2 in the stretch (1-3-2 in league play). Last Saturday’s finale, though, saw the club play well in defeating the Red Bulls. The strong play of Shalrie Joseph following his return from suspension and the roster’s suddenly finding itself getting much healthier provide an air of optimism going into June that may not otherwise be expected for a club fresh off a seven game winless streak.
