Here are some heres and theres with the Revs’ match against the San Jose Earthquakes at Buck Shaw Stadium just moments away from commencing.

  • As expected, Pat Phelan is getting the start in place of Sharlie Joseph.
  • Marko Perovic is getting his first start with the Revolution.  He’ll be playing striker alongside last week’s hero, Zack Schilawski.  Kheli Dube sits.
  • Otherwise, the Revs’ lineup remains the same as last week.  This means that Darrius Barnes is still on the bench to start this match.
  • Schilawski and Ike Opara will be meeting for the first time as opponents.  The two rookies, both first round picks, played together at Wake Forest. Opara is expected to be asked to contain Schilawski; this should make for a solid subplot.
  • The Red Bulls have won and the Wizards have lost already tonight.  A victory for New England tonight would keep them atop the Eastern Conference, tied with New York.
  • The Revs victory in San Jose last season was their first in the city since 2000.  For Steve Nicol‘s club, this hopefully was not an aberration.
  • A reminder: Comcast SportsNet is broadcasting the Celtics.  The Revs will be on alternate channels throughout New England, listed here.

Enjoy the match!
