The Revolution look quite healthy heading into tomorrow night’s match against Seattle Sounders FC.

In particular, the backline seems to have some much needed fresh bodies available.

Having played the last few weeks with makeshift center backs in light of injuries to Darrius Barnes and Emmanuel Osei, and having used two players out of position last weekend when Cory Gibbs joined them on the bench, it will be a relief for many to see that these bodies are becoming much more able. Barnes remains listed on the injury report as out, but Osei is no longer listed at all and Gibbs has been upgraded to probable from questionable. Kevin Alston, who did not miss time, was listed as probable earlier in the week. He is no longer listed.

Lineup implications after the jump.

Today’s  Revolution injury report is now available to the public.

Edgaras Jankauskas has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable. Jankauskas is starting to be labeled by most as a bust, or at least a disappointment, but the Revs are in desparate need of anybody who can score. Perhaps he’ll help the club put the ball in net for the first time in 5 matches when New England hosts New York this weekend.

Greetings, and welcome to Six States, One Blog’s coverage of tonight’s match at Gillette Stadium between the New England Revolution (2-5-1) and the San Jose Earthquakes (4-2-0).  The two teams met up previously on the west coast on April 17 of this season, which marked a 2-0 loss to the Revs.  It was the first in the Revs’ current string of 6 winless matches, which includes 5 league matches.

Some pregame thoughts:

  • The Revolution will be happy to see Marko Perovic, Cory Gibbs, and Kevin Alston back in the lineup.  Perovic played in Wednesday night’s US Open Cup qualifier but was missed in last Saturday’s loss to the Columbus Crew due to suspension.  Alston missed each of the last two.  Gibbs, meanwhile, went against Columbus but sat out Wednesday’s match.  It’s getting fair to say that it’s been a tough go of it this season for the club, but these three have been bright spots and to have them all back in time for further league play can only help New England.  That goes double for Alston and Gibbs, as the Revs finished off Wednesday’s match against New York without a natural defender on the field. The Revs’ updated injury report has been released, and it carries some good news.

Kevin Alston and Cory Gibbs have both been upgraded to probable.  The duo didn’t play in Wednesday night’s 3-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls after having been listed as questionable on Tuesday.  The report indicates that the two defenders should be good to go tomorrow night.

This is good news for a club that has its seen a lot of injuries in its defense in the last week.  Emmanuel Osei (leg infection) and Darrius Barnes (midfoot sprain) are both still listed as out, but on Wednesday the Revolution played only one natural defender (Seth Sinovic) in the absence of Alston and Gibbs.

The Revolution released today’s injury report minutes ago and guess what? It’s grown.

Add Darrius Barnes to the list of hurting Revs.

Already without Taylor Twellman, Matt Reis, Shalrie Joseph, Emmanuel Osei, and Mike Videira, the club will miss Darrius Barnes this week as well.  Barnes suffered a right foot sprain Saturday night against Columbus and was substituted out as a result.

Today’s injury report features a few noteworthy changes from Tuesday’s earlier edition.  The Revolution will take on the Colorado Rapids in Foxborough tomorrow night.

Edgaras Jankauskas and Niko Colaluca, both of whom were listed as questionable on Tuesday, are not listed at all.  Whether these two would play has been the basis of much Revs talk over the last week.  Now we know that they will both be available.  Jankauskas could help the Revs given his prowess as a possession-based player — a place where coach Steve Nicol has said the club needs to improve — and Colaluca will be fired up to face his old team.

An update to the notes posted moments ago: According to the Revs’ twitter account, Darrius Barnes is indeed getting the start.  He is replacing Emmanuel Osei, who is said to have a left foot contusion.

This will be Barnes’s first start of the season after having had the distinction of playing every minute of every game as a rookie in 2009.  He’ll be manning his familiar center back position, with Cory Gibbs backing him up and Seth Sinovic and Kevin Alston flanking him.
