I didn’t catch the RSL match. I planned on it but it proved impossible given travel plans. It seems like I didn’t miss much. Seeing how I’ve been a bit tied up of late, I’m thinking why not let the readers generate some content.
What’s next for the Revolution? Is it time to punt the season? Is it worth punting a season in such a young league? How should the team manage the rest of 2010 and beyond?
Have at it.
I really do not see us making the playoffs this year. Bar a series spike in goalscoring, there’s simply nothing that can be done for this team. I’ll continue to watch the games, of course, but I have no expectation of making the playoffs.

I say PUNT! Quit torturing the players and fans with impossible dreams of making the playoffs. It’s painful but the best thing for this team in the long run would to be to lose most of the rest of their games so that their lack of quality becomes evident to even people who don’t follow MLS soccer (e.g. the Krafts) and wholesale changes are finally made.
Weed out the players with obviously no future (Twellman, Jankauskas, …) and give the Videiras, Colalucas, rookies, etc. plenty of playing time to demonstrate their MLS potential, or lack thereof.
Ideally this would be a good time to scout out and recruit outside talent but sadly I’ve lost confidence in Burns’/Nicol’s ability to find and recognize MLS level talent. So the organization probably needs to either replace them both or hire outside scouts who really know their stuff.
Finally, commit to a soccer appropriate stadium (old or new) near Boston with REAL GRASS and a firm date for moving in. (Talk about dreaming!)
